4 Ways To Wear A Striped Turtleneck

4 ways to wear a striped turtleneck, ways to wear JCrew tissue turtleneck

Since I've been lecturing myself to make use of my wardrobe more lately, I thought I'd start creating some posts that can act as motivation.

I automatically default to turtlenecks and sweaters in chilly weather, as you can tell from these posts from last winter. I've worn this striped tissue turtleneck way more than 4 times, in fact - I've worn it so much that one of the seams got busted already, time to take it to my mom's for a fix-up!

It's fun looking back at what I wore in the past, and even more satisfying to see that I've gotten good use out of particular pieces. I hope to be able to do more of this type of posts in the future.

Plaid Shirt and Oversized Sweater

This XL sweater I bought a while ago from Gap has been very heavily rotated lately, (doing groceries, taking the dogs out for a walk, lounging in it all day, you name it) and has become one of my go-to tops. In this case, I wore it to a Hot Pot dinner (pretty much a all-you-can-eat buffet in my eyes) last weekend, and of course it served its purpose of allowing me to eat however much I wanted.

Plaid is everywhere this season! So why not add to it by pulling my old one out as well? I liked how the red and white contrasted with the bright yellow - and of course throwing a little bit of animal print into the mix can never hurt anybody.

......Oh who am I kidding? I'm totally into obsessed over plaid and checked patterns! Here are some of the items I've been drooling over lately, and of course they all come from Zara: (giving myself a pat on the back for not buying any yet)

J.Crew's tissue turtlenecks are the best layering pieces in the winter - soft, comfortable, warm... basically everything you would want to feel when facing the cold. I bought this red turtleneck (also worn here and here) along with a striped one (worn here, here, here, and here), and often regret not getting other colors when I had the chance (they were on sale)!

This shift dress is also proving to be versatile (first worn here), I'm hoping to get a few more wears out of it before my belly outgrows it in the next little while.

We visited this cute little nautical village for the second time this year (first time's was posted here), took advantage of the lovely sunset and snapped a few pictures.

These maternity leggings have got to be the most comfortable bottom I own - I can't stop wearing them. To have tops long enough to pair with them is however a bit of a challenge. I wanted to layer a button down shirt under this chunky knit sweater for extra warmth, but just couldn't find one that can cover me enough - until I peaked into my husband's closet.  I've since them picked out a few more for future layering, so far he's OK with it.

Winter Favorites: Plaid Coat and Elbow Patch Cardigan

I bought this jacket from Zara last year on sale (would not have been possible if plaid and check patterns were as popular as this year) and have been in love with it ever since (see posts here, herehere, here....). Its pattern and cape-like silhouette combined makes it a perfect early winter coat for me, and has actually been perfect for the growing baby bump as well.

This elbow-patch cardigan has also been one of the most hard-working pieces ever since I got it 2 years ago (see posts here, here, and here). I have worn it and laundered it countless times, and somehow it still looks as decent as when I first bought it.

It's always so tempting to go out and buy new pieces to adhere to the latest trends, especially with the constant showcasing from Instagram, Pinterest, and blogs - items like this coat and this cardigan however encourage me to stop myself a lot of times a little bit. Classic and good quality pieces are what will give me the best bang for the buck, and the ability to wear the same thing multiple ways is what will polish my style. There, pep talk of the day.

Thanksgiving Outfit: Faux Leather Trim Shift Dress

With autumn in full swing, all I want to do is cozy up behind neutral and dark colors. I saw this grey dress from Winner's a few weeks ago and right away was attracted by its color - and then its simple cut and minimal faux leather details.

With its loose and comfortable fit, I can probably bundle up even further by layering a collared shirt underneath. Or I can tuck the bottom into a pair of jeans or pants and wear it as a top. What about wearing a sweater over the top and have a dropped waist skirt look? The possibilities! (Also, the stretch material proved to be extremely useful at our annual Thanksgiving dinner party.)

This leopard print vest has been a favorite brighten-and-warm-me-up piece since I bought it last year, and I admit I am very very tempted to upgrade it to Zara's leopard furry coat from this season. Here is a quick look:
